Parents and Carers:
Assessment sounds more scary than it is! It is just a way of working out strengths and areas for development and the best way to help your children overcome difficulties.
Assessment is a crucial part of school life. We consistently carry out formative assessment (on a day to day basis) and summative assessment (termly and at the end of each Key Stage). These assessments allow us to effectively support individual pupils, groups of pupils and look at the attainment and achievement for classes, Key Stages and the whole school. Our assessment procedures and results are checked termly by our School Improvement Officer and our Governors. Assessments are shared with pupils in class and half termly in our mini reports with parents. Of course, we will respond on the day to any additional requests from parents. We all want to work together so that Westwood Park pupils make as much progress as possible and have the key skills for their future lives.
